- Better Yet
-
Changes happen. Changes for the better. Changes for changes' sake. Hence, comparing generations should not be considered as apple to apple. However, contextual judgement is not easy when a man only lives through one and thus sees that one life as the best it could get.
When the better things from the old times are no longer in effect today, it does not mean that humanity is dwindling into misery. The world just demands a different approach, maybe. Sure, the kids now may not know how to fly a kite or to build a tree house, but they can rescue a princess by getting through numerous puzzling missions in the Zelda game. Is one better than the other?
Before answering that, consider the following metaphor. In today's context, a bankir may never need to fly a kite, but he may need to go through some problematic scenarios in his everyday work.
In the academic light, comparing batches is inevitable. Having an education system not internationally recognized, it is diffcult to counter the arguments for "GPA does not matter". So the lower-that-three-point-zeros would defend themselves as more creative, innovative and more skillful that today's above-threes. Maybe it is true, but who the hell cares?
Of course, average GPA is not the only measure of the success of an academic institution. Nevertheless, the other measure, the best research products (on which the passion for it is said to stroger then than now) is still resulted from our lecturers studying overseas.
This is the way I see it. In an academic institution, academic achievements come first. So, for now, at least we have respectable avaerage score AND starting up new researches.

Please don't be sudden when we're gonna have the formal proposal/engagement. I'd have to fix the sofas, clean up the house and do stuff, you know...

- 2-Cent on Freedom
-
It is not just a coincidence or irony that freedom works best when governed by absolute laws. There are 2 sides of every coin, which is why there is a bit of Harvey Dent in all of us. On the case of freedom, the sides involved the bestowment of rights of actions by oneself and towards another.
When one misuses his/her freedom to hamper that of others based on lack of tolerance, difference of views or other kinds of prejudice, then freedom is nothing.
As far as democracy goes, opinions are well respected. Or are they?

- Strip Generator

This site is cool!
This is my first one. Turns out making a comic strip is not so easy... even when you don't have to draw it.

The clearer version is available here.
