History Repeats Itself
 Posted by: ndin | 07/03 2006, 05:30

When Brazil recently advanced to the quarter final and England was facing the penalty shoot out against Portugal, I prefer to believe that a ball is round. That is past facts are descriptive rather than predictive and anything could happen. Then, as the history stated, no American team has ever won the World Cup held in European soil and England has always lost their penalty shoot out, the repeating history is proven once again.

Why is that?
Are we indeed worse than a donkey which never falls to the same hole or the universe is trapped in some kind of never ending loop?

Democracy is Dead
 Posted by: ndin | 07/01 2006, 09:34

The United States is a nation of laws: badly written and randomly enforced.
--Frank Zappa (1940 - 1993)

Having gone through the bloody communism, opressive dictatorship and scandalous monarchy, democracy was the next big thing in the modern nation governance. I was told it was the best simply because it respects human rights. Now, when the concept is evolving into demo-crazy all around the globe, maybe it is time to come up with a new concept.

Democracy's strength has become its weakness. That is the part where everyone has the right to throw in their opinions. Everyone means the good guys and the bad guys. This results in a very manipulative environment. The truth, as i have written before somewhere, has become nothing but a nicely composed sentences.

Maybe the problem lies not within the concept, but within humans. We are known for the tendency to optimize the power of our rights, often in disguise as 'the best thing for everyone'.

By the way, the above's quote sounds quite universal to me. At least it is also trus for Indonesia...

Lessons from the World Cup
 Posted by: ndin | 06/23 2006, 11:24

  1. Experience is the best teacher. A TV presenter without any experience is.. well.. Undecided
  2. Excessive use of hair gel will guarantee any player or referee to stay looking cool and classy even after a brutal game Wink
  3. If one wants to watch the game only to see the goals, one doesn't need to be awake during the entire game since one's brother will wake one up with a scream right after each goal, just in time to watch the instant replay Tongue out
  4. Casillas is the best-looking goalie this year Embarassed
  5. During the world cup season, advertise lavishly on wide-screen TV and sound system for the boys while attract the ladies to fly away from their transfixed boyfriends and husbands with a premium flight to the nearest country having a shopping fiesta Cool
  6. Voodoo sells
  7. Sex sells
  8. TV quizzes suck

*Chuckles*
The life of journalism is somewhat... intriguing. I don't think I can handle that much stress, though.
Anyway, been lazing off for the better part of the week, waiting the commentary on my final assignment draft. Filling the time reading too much DC and Marvel, courtesy of my retired partner Wink
Decided to let go ISNM, scheduling for an interview @ Sudirman next week (hence, I'll probably working after handing in my final assignment), planning on holidays to Bandung for a relative's wedding, Bali and maybe Citarik for rafting again... oh, and that movie production and desperately praying for England (why did Owen..?? Oh, well..).

I am my destiny. Prepare to live.
