Munich
 Posted by: ndin | 04/24 2006, 06:12

This is the movie that needs to be watched with a very open mind, especially for hard-core supporters of the Palestine. After being held back for months behind the issue of cancellation due to concerns on strong rejection from the Muslim community, the movie was finally released and not taking risk of recalling in the near future, I watched it the first time i got the chance.

There are 2 sides of every coin and being professional, Spielberg did not neglect the opposing views regardless his background. Although the movie tells the story of assasins, forget about methods used in Mission Impossible. In this, murders are crude, bloody, and never worked as planned.

The emotional conflict is not exploited as far as it should be, but it's less drama and more real, I'd say..

Eric Bana is fabulous and yummy Embarassed even with the cupu 70s hair style. Quite enjoying the European atmosphere too, and with a dialogue using more than 5 languages in it, the worldwide affect of the conflict is portrayed even more strongly. Apart from the violance, Munich is also sort of sexually explicit. So, do not bring along any non-adults to the theatre.

I learnt a lot from the movie, historically, culturally, politically, phillosophically... and I hope you will too..

I dislike narrow minded people, even more so now than ever before..
White, Blacks, G8, Asia-Africa, ASEAN, Asia, European Union, NATO, UN, Middle-East, Far-East, Haves & Have-Nots (Nuclear, Weaponry, Money, Food..), Third World, Developed countries, Developing countries, Underdeveloped countries, Latin America, North America, Liberalists, Feminists, Ku Klux, West... Islam.

The "West and Islam" phrase is populating the news these days, as if there are no Muslims in the Westerns. Whether it is fear, discomfort or personal vengeance upon which the dichotomy is based, it is something that i see as unnecessary and unfit for the modern world.

Oil, the source of energy on which the real modern world is built on.
Kind of ridiculous...

how the Gauls see us
 Posted by: ndin | 04/21 2006, 08:03

it's been a while since i realized that UI students are segmented according to our fields of study. this brings some stereotypes into each of our appearances, behaviors, buddies, hang out places. i once denied all of these, but they have proven themselves from time to time to be true for most instances ... Undecided

so, in the last few days, some fellows form the Management class are in the state of mild panic because they had to interview quite a number of Fasilkomers for their assignments. apparently, Fasilkomers are a rare breed in the social circle of UI students. Some of them almost shed tears when that quite a number of Fasilkomers were willing to come to their campus.

We were like.. D'oh, you're picking us up and giving us free lunch. Cool

Kinda sad, huh..
